Ejaradini: Modeling black gardens as a response to colonial ruination
Ejaradini takes as its site of consideration, the Johannesburg Art Gallery (JAG), as a building and an institutional imaginary of colonial as well as contemporary ruination. Using the JAG as our speculative site, we model some of the structures of everyday lifehood, belonging making and reclaim that black urban gardening offers. This paper is an initial exploration of this potential.
